Recommended course for filmmakers

Through our projects, we’ve been fortunate to work with Indigenous people (First Nations and Métis) in various provinces and film on traditional territories across the country. Our intent has always been to come from a place of humility, respect and openness to learn. An important resource for us was the course Working with Indigenous Peoples in the Screen Sector (P.A.C.T), an Indigenous cultural awareness and competency course.

Through this course, we learned about the importantce of representation, co-creation and protocols to work with Indigenous communities in a positive, mutually beneficial, and practical way.

We encourage others in the film industry to take the course as well, as we can all work together to create caring, safer, and more equitable spaces in the creative sector.

Thank you to those who shared their stories through the course to help us become more informed filmmakers!
